The commercial that I chose to use for my speech was one for "Bud Light". The first thing that jumps out after the first time that I watched the commercial was the fact that the authors main way of attracting the audience was with the use of humor. Furthermore, the setting of the commercial, in an office, makes it even more humorous. The purpose of the commercial is to, of course, have people buy bud light. However, the way this commercial tries to accomplish this is by making the audience laugh. Therefore, any time someone goes to buy beer, or even thinks about beer, they think about the commercial and of course associate it with bud light. The audience is so broad in this sort of area because there are so many people in the country who regularly drink beer. There is a sense of community in the office that gives an empathetic approach to the commercial. Many people know what it is like to work in an office like that and it makes it extremely relatable to the audience. I also noticed another feature to the commercial that makes the audience keep its eye on it. The fact that everything is so fast paced makes the watcher not want to take his or her eye off of the screen. It has so many scenes in such a short period of time making it extremely fast paced. I feel that my next steps are to really identify the ethos logos and pathos and talk about that. I will come see you for help with that.
